SEOUL VIOSYS becomes the first in the world to apply UV LED in home appliances, dramatically enhancing the capabilities


- Introduced world’s first home appliance modules and systems using UV LED in IFA
- With world-class UV LED technology, accelerated UV LED commercialization and expects to replace mercury lamp (UV lamp)

The world class LED and UV LED chip manufacturer SEOUL VIOSYS (CEO Jae-jo Kim, www.seoulviosys.com) stated that SEOUL VIOSYS has released UV LED modules and air purifying systems for home appliances that UV LED applies, and firstly introduced on September 6 after researching and developing 12 years of intensive UV LED.

 

The new UV LED modules and system of SEOUL VIOSYS, a company holding UV production technology of entire range of UV LED volume production technology 254nm to 405nm, is a system that can be adapted to useful home appliance and special equipment by using sterilization and air cleaning techniques.

 

Contrary to the original mercury UV lamp, UV LED module of SEOUL VIOSYS does not use mercury and does not carry any toxic substances the modules can be applied to water purifiers, air purifiers, refrigerators, and washing machines. Also, it can produce products free germs and viruses, and a distinguished value-add. Especially, when it applies to smart phones, germ problems can be solved and also it is possible to help to make various purposes of sterilizers.

 

 

 

With using the UV LED module technology, SEOUL VIOSYS plans to supply them to electronics and retail companies globally in the form of OEMsODMs for the product such as portable air purifiers, smart phone sterilizers, and mid-sized air purifiers. Although the company produces finished goods, the company plans to provide only in the form of OEM/ODM for every electronics, IT manufacturers, and retail companies to clients.

 

Jae-jo Kim, CEO of SEOUL VIOSYS, stated, ‘The reason why we changed our company name Seoul Optodevice to SEOUL VIOSYS is to show the will to become a leading company related to LED manufacturing with background technology which is vertical production line UV LED chip to its module’ He added, ‘With over 10,000 patents and technological power related to eco-friendly LED and UV LED manufacturer, we plan to become the global No.1 company in the UV field, by dominating the blue ocean UV LED market by providing UV LED applied modules and systems to worldwide clients, starting this IFA exhibition.’

 

*What is UV LED?
UV LED is a form of LED releasing ultraviolet rays, and can produce various wavelength 200nm (nanometer) to 400nm that are not visible. The potential use is diverse according to wave length, ranging sterilization, air purification, medication, gas detection, food production, and beauty, according to the wavelengths.

 

*What is SEOUL VIOSYS?
A subsidiary of Seoul Semiconductors, Seoul Optodevice was established in 2002 and changed its official name to SEOUL VIOSYS in September 6, 2013. This action was due to change itself a visible LED and UV LED chip maker to a UV LED system provider. SEOUL VIOSYS produced 405-365nm wavelength UVA LED (Near UV LED) for the first time in 2002, and produced 254~340nm wavelength UVC LED (Deep UV) 2005, becoming a company capable of producing UV LED of all wavelengths, and holds over 10,000 patents related to this field.
